New Mr Man is a Mo Bro! The Mr Men support Movember

Mr MoIt’s hard to believe that the Mr Men series has been going strong for over 40 years! Kids love ‘em for their distinctive colours and the sweet moral lessons of their stories.  Grown ups love ‘em as ironic iconic emblems for mugs and t shirts.  The latest instalment hits the shelves today with the limited edition hardback tale of Mr Mo – a cool, quirky link up with the global Movember movement.

Even if you haven’t participated in Movember yourself, you’ll certainly have noticed a distinct increase in facial fuzz around the office at this time of year.   Watch out for the guy in the business suit with a face like a ‘70s cricketer!  Or the tradesman in a high vis vest twirling his dastardly ‘tache!  Men around the world will be having fun with their faces next month while raising money for important men’s health issues, like prostate cancer and mental health initiatives.  This annual MOvement has been hugely successful thanks to being easy (no marathons required), visible (great for raising awareness) and enjoyable (a month without shaving).   Blokes, you have until 31st October to sign up here and get that mo growing.   It all starts with a clean shave on 1st November – and it ends when you can no longer eat your lunch with dignity.   And, if you need any more inspiration, check out the story of Mr Mo!

Written and illustrated by Adam Hargreaves (son of the original series creator, Roger Hargreaves) this is a charming one-off hardback release, with 20% of all sales donated to Movember.    Mr Mo is a very polite and dapper gent with a beautifully groomed moustache. After a mishap at the barber, poor Mr Mo is left with a naked upper lip and, Samson-like, begins to lose those qualities that make him the well-mannered Mr Man he is.  With no mo, he no longer holds doors open for his friends, he forgets to wipe his feet and he’s a little too honest about Little Miss Splendid’s gaudy new hat!  There’s only one solution: grow that mo! And he encourages his friends to do the same.  By the last day of November, Mr Mo is back to his splendid self. What’s more, he has found himself a fine gang of ‘Mo Bros’ with individually crafted face fur and generally improved etiquette!   A gorgeous illustration of all your favourite Mr Men with their stylish new mos is a real treat at the end for fans.

Retailing at just $4.99, this is a chance to add a limited edition book to your collection whilst supporting a worthwhile charity project.

Check out the Movember website for more information or to sign up if you want to go the mo!

Mr Mo is published by Penguin Books. RRP $4.99. Released in Australia today.

That’s a very cool idea from Mr Men. Boatman had a Mr Men Movemeber shirt a few years ago. Glad they have taken it that one step further

Mr Mo bro, that’s AWESOME! Hubby has done it a couple of times but not recently. The first time, we were newlywed DINKs living in Sydney and went to the Mo party at Luna Park – awesome, loved it.

That was a lifetime ago 🙂

My hubby can’t stand having facial hair, it gets too itchy he reckons! A shame really as he could probably grow a mo in a week – but I’ll do my bit somehow this month to help Movember – great post 🙂 xx

Thanks Emily. Yeah I reckon summer is not the time for facial hair if you’re a Queenslander.
